The Resistance and Me: An Insider's Account of the Two-Year Mission to Stop the Trump Agenda and Take Back the House

The voters have spoken and Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have won the 2020 election. While Trump received far more votes than anticipated and continues to rage against the results, this election will not be overturned and on January 20th, 2021, Biden and Harris will be inaugurated.

What we started with the 2017 Women's March and powered through the 2018 midterm elections came to fruition on November 3rd, 2020 with the defeat of Donald Trump. And looking at those states that gave the election to Biden, such as the blue wall states of Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, the women of the anti-Trump Resistance were an integral part of that success. This coalition of younger voters, diverse voters in major cities, particularly African American voters, and suburban women in the suburbs around these cities, defeated Trump.

To better understand these women, what propelled them to take a stand, who drove them to spend four years making activism part of their daily lives, read The Resistance and Me. You will be deeply touched by their struggles and inspired by their stories. It is a unique work of history that helps us better understand the first two years of the Trump presidency and how those years set the stage for his defeat in 2020.

“It is an extremely well written blow by blow account of how Democrats (especially "Progressive" Democrats) on The East End of Long Island responded after Trump's shocking election in 2016. It covers the Women's Marches, The Blue Wave in 2018 and so much more. It is not dry at all. Rather, it's a real page turner and it is an enlightening and enjoyable read. By way of disclosure, I know the author: we are both members of The Southampton Town Democratic Committee.” Dick Sheehan, New York

“Just finished reading your book yesterday morning! Oh my God Barbara! It is wonderful! I couldn’t put it down! Your beautiful spirit and voice shined all the way through. I actually felt like I was with you, and experienced everything you did every step of the way. Your humanity is so caring, genuine, honest and real! I know you will keep going and doing whatever you can to assist the “Blue Wave”. We have to get our current “Asshole-in-Chief” and his cronies (Lee Zeldin, Mitch McConnell, and Lindsay Graham) out of office!” Lisa Cunningham, Florida

“I just finished your book. Wow. Well done! When we take a writing course we all dream of being published. You have lived the dream. And not just any book, an important book, a timely book, one we are well to pay attention to if we want to make a difference in November. And you're a good story teller because you built up momentum toward the Gershon/Zeldin election so that I was eager to read about the results even though I knew what the outcome had been. I hope you get all the recognition you deserve for this book because I see how much hard work you put into it--the hours canvassing, all the walking, the taking of notes, the interviewing, the toll it took on your health in the process--but that's you. You work hard and the end product is always done well. I hope the many new friends you have made along this process appreciate you for your time, your talents and your capabilities. And now for a sequel!” Victoria Aspinwall, New York

"In this book, The Resistance and Me, Ms. Weber-Floyd has provided strategies and examples for the reader who wants to get involved in local and national politics but doesn't know where to begin. An accomplished journalist, her compassion, insight, and intelligence radiate with each interview. Thank you, Barbara, for documenting the effort that galvanized the community after the debacle of the 2016 presidential election." J.P. SPATA Southampton Town Democratic Club President, SHDems member Joyce C. Flynn, New York
